Sports & Swedish Massage

A good general body maintenance treatment

Massage helps keep muscles flexible and supple, improves circulation, and supports the body’s natural healing processes. It promotes relaxation, encourages the release of natural pain-relieving endorphins, and creates an overall sense of wellbeing. A typical full-body massage lasts around one hour, with towels used throughout to ensure comfort and modesty.

Relaxation massage is ideal for stress relief and general body maintenance, helping to ease muscle tension before it develops into pain. Sports massage is a more targeted treatment designed to support physical activity, improve performance, prevent injury, and aid recovery. Remedial massage focuses on treating specific muscle and soft-tissue issues, addressing chronic tension, postural imbalances, and injury rehabilitation.

We now offer optional red light therapy to enhance your massage experience. Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to support cellular repair, reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and promote faster muscle recovery. When combined with massage, it can help relieve pain, support healing, and leave you feeling more relaxed and restored.

Sports and remedial Massage

An invigorating deep tissue massage designed to target specific areas of discomfort to alleviate pain and activate healing. Therapists will start by assessing your range of movement and presenting symptoms to formulate a treatment plan and advice may include home exercises and stretches to boost recovery.

This massage is also beneficial as a corrective, maintenance or general conditioning treatment. For sporting individuals, the overall aim of the treatment is to prevent injury, maintain performance, recover from exertion, correct any imbalance and maintain health, as well as assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. The term “Swedish” massage is referred to as “classic massage”.

The various Swedish massage techniques are designed to improve your circulation, soothe your muscles and make you feel more relaxed. Swedish massage uses softer strokes on the bonier and more delicate parts of the body, and stronger strokes where there is thicker muscle coverage. This adjustment of pressure makes it an ideal massage for relaxation.

Besides the calming benefits, Swedish massage is thought to be good for:

  • Easing muscular strain by flushing out toxins
  • Improving circulation by increasing oxygen flow in the blood
  • Helping to keep ligaments and tendons supple
  • Reducing emotional and physical stress
